Let me tell you something about this bride! She set her boundaries & stood on business 🙌🏾👌🏾 Phairah had no bridesmaids, no mom, mother in law, siblings, NO ONE in her space while she was getting ready for her wedding! Just HER, in her spacious hotel room with a beautiful view.

Sis didn’t even have to check her phone every two seconds, she just sat down & got glammed uninterrupted. It was peaceful, laid back, & fun! We had a time! ☺️👌🏾

2 truths can exist at the same time. 2024 has been the toughest yet most beautiful year of my life 🙏🏾. A year I wish to forget yet cherish every memory! The weapons definitely formed! Despite this year’s challenges, I can’t help but be grateful and thank God he KEPT me, he LOVED me even when I stopped praying. At some point I was just angry but he still kept me despite 🥹. I’m grateful for my babies! They give me a different type of motivation that can’t be explained 😭.

If you’re reading this, my prayer for you as you enter a new year is that God continues to reveal himself to you, that you align or realign your purpose in this life, and that his grace and mercy continues to carry you through any season. He’s bigger than ANY circumstance! Amen 🙏🏾.

I have my moments of vulnerability. I am very transparent to say motherhood isn’t easy. Our new addition has definitely shifted our lives as of late lol for the better ofcourse 😂

My babies are 12 years apart and are at two separate stages of their life. My daughter who will be 13 soon is flourishing in school and doing her BIG ONE with her extra curricular activities like marching band & basketball. She’s becoming a teenager, her world is her world. She’s has always been an independent little girl even as an infant. She rarely cried lol When I used to bring her to work with me, no one ever knew she was there because that’s how quiet she was. By the time I had to start bring her to work with me she was well over 5 or 6 years old so they are able to watch themselves.

BAYBEEEEEE!! My 10 month old son!!!! Complete opposite 😂 he’s going to cry, he’s going to scream for no reason, and just baby coo the day away! He’s BUSY lol If I’m ever in a situation where he has to come to work with me, I’M DECLINING FAST 😂😂 cause no! Y’all not about to be talking about me and how unprofessional the experience was! ☺️ NOPE. It would be hard to put my professional business hat on AND my mommy hat on for an infant who depends on me for everything.

Anyhoo! I think it’s important to show the real just as well as the funny aspects about our job!

I myself have definitely “assisted” a bridesmaid that decided to do her own makeup out of being “nice” however even though you think this could come off “mean”, don’t do services for someone you’re not contractually obligated to do.

There are Liability Risks. Without a contract, you may not be protected from legal claims regarding injury or dissatisfaction with the service.

There’s also Health and Safety. A contract can outline consent and any allergies or sensitivities, protecting both you and the client.

Protect yourself and your business over being “nice”. Here’s a polite and professional way you can decline next time you’re asked:

“Hey I wish I could assist! However, at this time, I’ll need to focus on providing services for the ladies who are contracted with me to ensure that I meet their needs and maintain the quality of service I strive to deliver. Thank you for understanding!”

Boom 💥 dassit dassall. It is absolutely ok to advocate for your self and your business and it does not make you unprofessional or “mean”.

Ok so hey bridal bestie, um there is NO WAY a bride would need to do a “trial” at least 5 times and here’s why:

💍 Your work shows consistency. This is major key! 🔑 A bride should be able to look at your body of work and instantly see your artistry delivering consistent beautiful bridal work! Your artistry aligns with how she she’s herself on her wedding day. This builds trust!

💍 You’re the expert! You as the bridal artist understand the unique needs of bridal makeup. You show up in confidence and it reflects in your skills and experience. Your bride has the upmost respect and confidence that you will be able to deliver the look she desires on her big day!

💍 Lastly, there’s a difference between a bridal trial and a bridal preview (this is something I’ve talked about multiple times on my page, you can simply scroll and see the content). To keep it short, “trials” which are usually booked BEFORE you’ve been secured as their artist are giving, “let me try this girl out (cause I’m not really sure about her, we’ll see)”. Bridal previews which are usually booked AFTER you’ve been secured as their bridal artist give, “girl I found my bridal mua! I can’t wait to sit in her chair and we do my bridal look! Her work is so bomb”! You see the difference? 😏

So my last reel had the gworls in my DM’s & comments a little scared about becoming a bridal artist! So I have 3 REAL TIPS that I HOPE can help you when making that decision! ☺️ There’s A LOT more but I don’t know how characters I have and this caption can’t be 5 pages long 😂.

NUMBER 1 👉🏾 DO NOT GO INTO BRIDAL FOR THE MONEY! 😂 & yes I’m yelling at you lol. If this is the reason, baby you’re going to quit FAST! 😭 You actually have to have genuine passion for what you’re doing. This a women’s special day and probably one of her most important moments. It’s more about an experience & creating unforgettable moment vs. a “big check” and trust me with everything it takes to run a bridal business the money will never feel “worth it” you hear me?! That maybe too real for some of yall 🫣.

NUMBER 2 👉🏾 If your customer service is trash, “you don’t like talking to people”, or your communication is poor, DO NOT go into bridal. 🤦🏾‍♀️ Bridal work involves close collaboration with your brides, sometimes hand holding (planning a wedding is stressful). Excellent communication is MAJOR KEY 🔑 to being a bridal artist and having anything close to a successful bridal biz.

NUMBER 3 👉🏾 You have to elevate your commitment! The Bridal Industry is very different than seeing a client for an hour and once you’re done with the service, you’re done. Bridal sometimes requires longer hours, flexibility, coordination with other vendors etc. Oh and if you decided to have a bridal team!! 🙃 You have to nurture and commit to your team such as much. You really have to assess if you’re ready to commit to a lot of different responsibilities & hats 👌🏾.

👉🏾 Having a bridal business, a salon suite business, an infant, a tweener, a husband, and a household to take care of isn’t easy at all 🥹. Often times I feel like I’m failing or one area is lacking than the other or honestly just overwhelmed.

👉🏾 I feel this pressure to “get back to me” after having my baby but truth be told I don’t feel like me just yet. I’m literally just trying to find time to get things done or sneak in a nap if I can.

I’ve been a mother since I was 20 years old but this Mother’s Day hits really different for me. Motherhood is glamorized but it’s the toughest most REWARDING job I’ve ever had! There’s no book for motherhood, you do the best you can and pray you raise amazing humans.

My daughter has taught me so much in the past 12 years, she’s literally my little bestfriend 🥹. Watching her embrace her brother & love him brings so much joy to my heart! I know that when I leave this earth, they will have eachother and their bond will be like no other.

I saw this statement on another platform & I instantly was like why though? But then I read the comments.

Social media has become a place of unlimited information. There isn’t anything you can’t pretty much search and figure out & we’re not even pulling AI into the conversation 🥴. Here are just a few comments I read:

- Social media has significantly lowered the value of things.
- Nothing seems “exclusive” anymore.
- Everything starts to feel “over saturated”
- People feel entitled to get the information you worked hard for, for free.
- Social media has taken “uniqueness” away, everyone is doing the same thing.

The comments went on & on but I have to say I think there are also positives to sharing information as well. For myself personally, I have ALWAYS invested into anything I wanted to learn but there has also been people to help me along the way that didn’t gate keep and sometimes those are the moments that can change your life forever. AND I’ve always had the mentality that there was enough for everyone!

STEAL My Lighting “Recipe” ☺️

I use 2 Neewer Panel Lights & 1 Lowel Pro Light! Now here’s how I set up these 3 lights to get the best lighting for my videos.

📌Key Light

📌Rim/Halo Light

👉🏾 First is the KEY LIGHT. My Lowel Pro Light is used as my KEY light! This is your main source of lighting that illuminates your subject. Think of this as your main source of lighting! Now the Lowel Pro is like a spot light so I usually tilt it up a little so it’s not directly in my subjects eyes/face. This light is also SUPER DUPER warm so I used my Neewer lights to bring balance!

👉🏾 Next is your FILL LIGHT. The fill is softer than your key light and used to reduce or get rid of any shadows that may be on your subject.

👉🏾 Lastly is the RIM LIGHT. This light is used to illuminate your background & creates a halo light that outlines the back of your subject creating separation between your subject and the background.

I use both Neewer Lights as my fill & rim light on each side of my subject.

Glam on my beautiful Jhazi Bride Stacy last Friday! 🧡

Came out of maternity leave a little earlier than expected ☺️. Stacy found and inquired with me 7 days before her wedding, YES SEVEN DAYS BEFORE. When I saw the inquiry, I was shook. I checked the date twice to make sure I was seeing right! 😂

But in the note section of my inquiry, the bride explained a situation and she was so sweet about it. It didn’t give red flag vibes, so I decided to take her request and I’m so happy I did! We had a time!

Thank you Stacy for letting me be apart of your special day! Cheers 🥂 you made it through an unfortunate situation and came out on top! ☺️😍
